Taking a rider on their first mountain day. Which established pull-offs or food stops make it easy to regroup without parking on a shoulder?

An early weekday start has worked best for me. I plan fuel conservatively and treat shaded corners as a different road surface.

    Maintenance before modifications.

Check the state road and forest-service notices the same morning. Seasonal damage and temporary work can make last month's route advice obsolete.

Keeping the group small and regrouping at established stops makes these roads much more enjoyable for everyone who lives there.

    Smooth is fast enough.
