For newer home mechanics: which job gave you the biggest confidence boost once you finally tried it with a manual and proper tools?

    Brake-pad replacement. Going slowly, cleaning the calipers, and using the service manual made it straightforward and taught me a lot.

    Smooth is fast enough.

    Coolant flush was less intimidating than the fairing removal. Labeling fasteners in separate bags was the real trick.

    Chain adjustment. Measuring from fixed points and checking torque turned the mysterious alignment marks into a simple routine.
