Looking for a relaxed northern Illinois loop with decent pavement and a breakfast stop. I know the obvious river roads; curious what locals link together when they only have half a day.

    Weekday mornings have been the calmest in my experience. I still plan the route with a fuel buffer and assume shaded sections may be damp.
