Best way to clean bugs off a matte helmet?

Warm water and a microfiber works eventually, but I do not want to polish shiny spots into a matte shell. What has been safe long term?

    I lay a wet microfiber over the bugs for five minutes, then lift instead of scrub. The soaking does almost all of the work.

    Street miles, track lessons.

    Avoid waxes and anything marketed as gloss-enhancing. My helmet maker specifically recommends mild soap and water only.

    Same method for visors: soak first, clean with bare fingers under running water, then blot dry. It has cut down on fine scratches.

    Maintenance before modifications.
