Not asking whether I am 'ready' based on an odometer number. I want to hear from people who made this specific jump: ergonomics, heat, insurance, corner speed, and daily usability.

The power was expected. The steering effort and riding position were the real adjustment. The 400 lets you get away with being lazy about body position.

    Street miles, track lessons.

Insurance surprised me more than fuel or tires. Get quotes on the exact VIN class before shopping.

My 600 made normal road speeds feel slow because it was barely awake. Keeping the smaller bike for street miles would have been the smart move.

    Maintenance before modifications.
