How strict are you about tire date codes?

Found a low-mile used bike with tires that look perfect but are several years old. No cracking and stored indoors. At what age do you replace regardless of tread?

Smooth is fast enough.

Storage history matters, but on an unfamiliar sportbike I replace old tires and establish a known baseline. It removes one variable while learning the bike.

I follow the tire maker's published guidance rather than a universal internet number. Inspection gets more frequent as they age.

Hard, squared tires can look visually fine. If the seller priced the bike as though they were new, I include replacements in the negotiation.

Street miles, track lessons.
