For a respectful first ride through the area, what weekday timing and rest stops make the route enjoyable without wearing out a newer rider?

    An early weekday start has worked best for me. I plan fuel conservatively and treat shaded corners as a different road surface.

    Check the state road and forest-service notices the same morning. Seasonal damage and temporary work can make last month's route advice obsolete.
