I would post the final route the morning of the ride after checking weather and official closure information. Conditions change faster than old forum posts.

A second vehicle changes the answer. With backup transportation, an older sportbike is fun. Without it, boring reliability wins.

Upshifts are clean when accelerating but clunky around town at low rpm. Chain slack is in spec. Is that just where these systems work poorly, or should I look at linkage and sensor adjustment?

For me the useful test is whether pressure rises predictably after a normal ride. If it barely moves or jumps a lot, I adjust in small steps and write it down.
